Selah ft. Sadie Ama & Mz. Bratt – ‘Womans World’ (prod. by DaVinChe)
As you might know I have a very soft spot for all female empowering songs and stuff like that, and this one by one of the freshest uprising UK-vocalists right now, Selah, hits right into my heart. ‘Womans World’ also features Sadie Ama and Mz. Bratt, and behind the production steez is DaVinChe. And I must say, it’s like the first time since like ‘P’s & Q’s’ DaVinChe has left a real impression on me.
Last week it was time for one of them days I have some sort of strange love/hate-feeling towards. I can celebrate the International Woman’s Day in terms of honouring Alexandra Kollontaj and the whole historical-thing, but getting roses and candy is not my cup of tea as it derives from the whole point and essence with IWD according to my book. All 365 days should be mine, not just one, and systematic power does not consider what day it is in the calender, it’s a whole different kind of mechanism…
However, ‘Womans World’ celebrates womanhood: “We came up with the idea for a female anthem with DaVinChe, because there hadn’t really been anything like that before. That’s generally a male thing, so it makes a change” she says.
“Sadie and Mz. Bratt being two prominent females in the scene were perfect for the song. We got in the studio along with Wretch 32 to help us put the song together. We didn’t want it to be your typical ‘girl power’-song. It was purposely written in the style of a rap, to give it more sass and attitude – that’s where Wretch got to work his magic“.
Wretch 32 and magic in the same sentence, ehrm, let’s not overdo it people, but I must say, I’m loving it:
